Opening of a Sailing School in Athens on the Initiative of the Ambassador of Odesain Greece

Konstantin Sobol has initiated the creation of a sailing school in Athens for Ukrainian children. From the spring of 2025, everyone will be able to take sailing lessons from professional instructors. With the financial support of the Ambassador of Odesa in Greece, two yachts have already been purchased. Two more and an auxiliary boat are planned. The main instructor of the school will be Oleksii Pismennyi, founder of the Commandor Yachting School (Odesa), who has been sailing, windsurfing, and kitesurfing for more than 30 years, has been certified in the ISSA instructor system since 2014 and has sailed all over the Mediterranean and the Caribbean.

“Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, more than 25,000 Ukrainians have become forced migrants and temporarily settled in Greece, the vast majority of them families with children. Childhood cannot be returned, so it is important to create opportunities for the development of our children today, despite all the circumstances. That is why I decided to create conditions for Ukrainian children living in Athens to learn sailing. It is sport, fun, teamwork, and character building. We will announce the opening of the school and the timetable very soon, so stay tuned!”
